Kazakhstan has begun its second census since it went independent. The president in a television address called on citizens to show civic responsibility and take an active part in the census. ?We hope that the census will provide precise information on changes in our citizens? lives,? Nazarbayev said. ?We speak about joining the top fifty competitive countries. We speak about innovations and science. For all this we need people. The census will help us to know what level of training our citizens have,? he said. ?The country?s human resources acquire a decisive economic role. Therefore a collective portrait of population is the most precious resource for Kazakhstan?s renovation,? the president said; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass. The census includes 45 questions on family structure, financial position, age, nationality, employment, education, religion as well as on computer literacy and the command of foreign languages. Kazakhstan launches the census once in ten years.
