Kazakhstan is to run its short video contest as part of the #TikTokShortFilm campaign with the winners to be invited to the 77th Cannes Film Festival in France, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Held for the third consecutive year, #TikTokShortFilm gives nationals from 55 countries the opportunity to share their creativity with more than a billion people around the world.

Contenders need to post an original vertical video with a running time of over one minute and in line with the contest’s conditions in a period from February 21 to March 15, 2024.

The winners will be announced in three nominations ‘Grand Prix’, ‘Best Script’ and ‘Best Directing’ during the #TikTokShortFilm awarding ceremony to take place during the 77th Cannes Film Festival in France.

The Grand Prix winner is to receive 10,000 euros and the two more winners are to be given 5,000 euros each.

Kazakhstan is to run its own short video contest on the same days, with the winners in two nominations ‘Best short film in Kazakhstan’ and ‘Best short film in Kazakh’ are to be invited to the Cannes Film Festival.
