ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstani senators have discussed the Belarus-Kazakhstan intergovernmental agreement on readmission at a session today, March 30.

The extended session of the Senate's Committee for constitutional legislation, legal system and law-enforcement agencies tabled the draft law "On ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Belarus on readmission. "The draft law suggests ratifying the agreement that envisage the order of sending bank, accepting and handing over the persons staying on the territory of the signatories in breach of the current rules of entrance and stay for foreigners and stateless persons. Ratification of the agreement will help counteract illegal migration in accordance with generally accepted norms of international law," said Vice Minister of Internal Affairs Berik Bissenkulov, introducing the draft law.

The agreement was signed in Astana on October 4, 2013 by the ministers of internal affairs of Kazakhstan and Belarus. The MPs made a decision to submit the draft law for consideration of the Senate, the upper chamber of the Kazakh Parliament.
