Kazakhstan - main partner of NATO in Central Asia: Anders Fogh Rasmussen

BRUSSELS. October 25. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ "Kazakhstan is the main partner of NATO in Central Asia", NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has said today upon the results of the meeting with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

"I am pleased to say that our today's talks confirm mutual striving of Kazakhstan and NATO to search for new opportunities for our political dialogue and bilateral cooperation", the Secretary General said.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen has noted that the cooperation between Kazakhstan and NATO develops in such spheres as reforming the Armed Forces and military field, emergency planning and scientific interaction. Besides, the individual partnership action plan is implemented as well.

"I hope we well sign a new strategic concept of the North-Atlantic Alliance within the coming NATO Summit in November this year", the Secretary General said.

Besides, the NATO Head thanked Kazakhstan for help in stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen highly appraised the efforts of our country on security strengthening as the OSCE chairman.
