Kazakhstan names new head coach of men’s boxing team

Kairat Satzhanov has been named the new head coach of the men’s boxing team of Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

Honored coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan in boxing, Satzhanov has 34 years of coaching experience.

In 2021-22, he worked as the head coach of the national boxing team of Kazakhstan, and in 2024, he was the head coach of the youth national boxing team of the country.

The Kazakhstan Boxing Federation informed that the new coaching staff is being formed, with foreign trainers-consultants, physical training coach, and a research team are to be invited.

Satzhanov led the Kazakhstani men’s boxing team to two gold, two silver and one bronze medals at the 2021 AIBA World Boxing Championships in Serbia. Under his direction, the Kazakhstani team won three gold, six silver and three bronze medals at the 2022 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships.

Being a personal coach, Satzhanov trained seven world champions and 43 Asian champions.

Earlier it was reported that the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation decided to dismiss the entire men’s boxing coaching staff following the Paris Olympics.

Kazakhstan claimed a mere two medals in the boxing events at the recent Olympic Games in Paris.

To note, Nurbek Oralbay brought the country a men’s 80kg silver and Nazym Kyzaibay claimed a women’s 50kg bronze.
