Kazakhstan not to purchase Korean and Turkish soap operas
ASTANA. November 11. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan ceases to purchase Korean and Turkish soap operas for broadcasting. This has been stated today at a press briefing of the central communications service by the Minister of Culture and Information Mukhtar Kul-Muhammed.
"This year we have the final decision to suspend the purchase of Korean and Turkish television series. Starting this year, we are no longer buying any of Korean and Turkish TV series. But the money we are sending for the development of national cinema and Kazakh television series", said the Minister.
The official stressed that in whole TV series are in great demand in all countries and lead television ratings.
"But obviously our TV channels have become too enthusiastic about Turkish and Korean soap operas. To purchase them we spend a lot of money, we - journalists and TV people - are well aware of that. As a result huge public money is spent on investments in Turkish and Korean TV series", said Mr. Kul-Muhammed.
