Kazakhstan - one of main partners of International Organization for Migration

ASTANA. March 14. KAZINFORM Senate Speaker Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the delegation of the International Organization for Migration headed by IOM Deputy Director General Laura Thompson, the press service of the House informs.

K. Tokayev put an emphasis on the role of the organization in the sphere of migration and spoke about strengthening the cooperation between Kazakhstan and the International Organization for Migration.

Kazakhstan is a member of the international conventions of the IOM and stands for legal migration - preventing illegal migration and creating conditions for social protection of migrants.

The Speaker informed his interlocutor about migration law of Kazakhstan and about the draft Law 'On migration' which was under consideration of the Parliament.

L. Thompson said this first visit of hers to Kazakhstan was productive and noted that Kazakhstan was one of the main partners of the Organization. According to her, joint work on the issues of migration will, certainly, help in resolving problems in the sphere of international migration.
