Kazakhstan - one of perspective states on conservation of wetlands: UNDP
ASTANA. November 25. KAZINFORM /Aituar Mamlin/ Twelve session of the National Management Committee on project "Integrated Conservation of Priority Globally Significant Wetlands" aimed at elaboration of new approaches to management and sustainable use of biological resources was held in Astana on Thursday.
The Global Environment Facility renders financial and technical assistance to the project through the UNDP in Kazakhstan.
The results of one year's work and joint middle-term project development plans on specially protected natural areas were discussed at the sitting.
"2010 was the most productive for the project. The territories of the Alakol and Korgalzhin state natural reserves were expanded, new lending program for rural residents was launched. The work on establishment of the legal framework aimed at preservation and sustainable use of resources of the wetlands was activated", Chairman of the Committee on Forestry and Hunting of the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture Yerlan Nysanbayev said at the session of the Committee.
