Kazakhstan paid special significance to Afghan situation settlement - Executive Secretary of OSCE Summit S.Abdykarimov

ASTANA. November 29. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ During the presidency in the OSCE Kazakhstan paid special significance to the situation regulation in Afghanistan. Executive Secretary of the OSCE Summit, Ambassador-at-Large Serzhan Abdykarimov has announced it at a briefing in "Shabyt" press center.

"We elaborated a document of the presidency vision. It is based on the work done by the Organization in Afghanistan in the recent years", S.Abdykarimov said.

He reminded that in 2007 in Madrid it was decided to assist Afghanistan. It included 14 projects, which touch upon trainings of drugs, customs and border police, carrying out electoral reforms. Some of these projects are implemented, but others - do not. Kazakhstan not only continues unrealized projects, but proposes new ones.

As S.Abdykarimov announced, events within co-chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the OSCE are planned next year.

S.Abdykarimov noted that Kazakh President N.Nazarbayev's initiative on implementation of an educational program for the Afghan youth is highly appraised by the Afghan side. President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai will take part in the OSCE Summit in Astana.
