Kazakhstan pays utmost importance to SCO Summit in Astana – Kazakh President

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Zhang Ming exchanging views on further boosting the SCO operation, Kazinform News Agency cites Akorda.

The Kazakh leader noted that Kazakhstan attaches utmost importance to the upcoming SCO Summit in Astana, discussing enhancement of multilateral dialogue – strive for sustainable peace and development.

I believe that we should cooperate closely taking into account the very importance of the Astana Summit amid the current geopolitical situation. The entire world will follow the Summit, the decisions and talks set to be taken during it. As far as I know, all the heads of the member states of the Organization are to take part in the Summit. As a host country, Kazakhstan will do its utmost for the Summit to end up in success, said the President.

For his part, Zhang Ming noted the considerable contribution Kazakhstan made to the promotion of the Organization’s potential.

I commend the huge efforts Kazakhstan makes as a presiding country as well as the special attention you and your government pays to the improvement of the SCO work. We expect that the Summit in Astana will be very successful, said the SCO Secretary General.

As the Head of State of Kazakhstan stressed the country regards the SCO as an effective mechanism for stepping up regional security, trade and economic cooperation and cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

The Kazakh leader also drew attention to the importance of thorough work on the content of the final documents of the Summit, which need to take into account the views and positions of all the member states of the Organization.
