Kazakhstan plans to close 12 universities this year - Education Minister

ASTANA. December 6. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ About 100 higher education institutions will remain in Kazakhstan in three-four years.

Kazakh Minister of Education and Science has said answering the questions of journalists after the Government's session.

According to him, nowadays 148 universities function in Kazakhstan and not all of them provide quality education.

"About 100 of them will remain in three-four years, and it meets the world practice," B.Zhumagulov said.

The Minister told, that this year it is planned to reduce 12 universities.
