Kazakhstan plans to send military observers to UN mission

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Ministry of Defense has held a meeting of the Deputy Chief of General Staff Major General Muslim Altynbayev and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of USA Defense Ministry Michael Dumont in the framework of the Kazakh-US consultations between the defense ministries of the two states, the press service of the Kazakh Defence Ministry informs.

Kazakh-U.S. military and military-technical cooperation operates under the five year plan made by the defense ministries of the two countries. Moreover, Kazakhstan plans to send military observers and divisions to one of the United Nations missions.

One of the priority areas of partnership is military education. Every year, the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan sends officers to study in the leading foreign military colleges. In 2014, the Defense Ministry of Kazakhstan will send to the United States four officers to study at the Military Academy of Land Forces «West Point», Naval Force and Air Force Academy and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

An important part of the Kazakh-American collaboration is enhancement of military-technical relations. Altynbayev expressed hope that to maintain the development of bilateral military-technical relations the U.S. defense-industrial companies as well as military band will actively participate in the program of the international exhibition «KADEX-2014» in May the current year. Following bilateral consultations Michael Dumont thanked Kazakh colleagues for their assistance in strengthening military cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States.
