Kazakhstan President reorganizes the Government

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - At today's enlarged meeting of the Government in Akorda President Nursultan Nazarbayev has announced the reorganization of the Government.

The new structure of the Government includes 12 ministries and 30 committees, instead of 17 ministries, 9 agencies, 54 committees, and 272 departments. Thus, the agencies have moved into the ministries in the form of committees. The President announced the creation of five new ministries. "The Ministry of National Economy incorporated the Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning, Ministry of Regional Development, Agency for Statistics, Agency for regulation of natural monopolies, Agency for the protection of competition, and the Agency for consumer protection. According to the Prime Minister, Yerbolat Dossayev appointed the head of the Ministry", President said. Afterwards, the President said that the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Welfare are combined into one - the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development. Tamara Duissenova was appointed Minister of Healthcare and Social Development, Salidat Kairbekova - her deputy. There has been also created the Ministry of Culture and Sport which will have functions and powers of the Ministry of Culture, the Agency for Religious Affairs, and the Agency for Physical Culture and Sports. A. Mukhamediuly was appointed as Minister of Culture and Sport of Kazakhstan. The fourth ministry is the Ministry of Investment and Development which will incorporate functions of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Agency for Communication and Information, and the National Space Agency. Asset Issekeshev appointed the head of the new Ministry. Zhenis Kasymbek posted first vice-minister and Askar Zhumagaliyev - vice minister. Energy Ministry will have functions and powers of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources. Vladimir Shkolnik will head the Ministry. Uzakbay Karabalin appointed the first deputy minister. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has appointed Bolat Zhamishev as chairman of the Development Bank of Kazakhstan. Ministry for Emergency Situations has been abolished and its functions transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Vladimir Bozhko appointed deputy minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Bakytzshan Sagintayev and Gulshara Abdykalikova appointed deputies of the Prime Minister.
