Kazakhstan produced over 8000 tons of uranium in 2008

SHYMKENT. January 15. KAZINFORM /Tatyana Pylayeva/ Uranium output in Kazakhstan in 2008 made 8 521 tons, Kazinform has learnt from the public relations department of ?Kazatomprom? National Company JSC.

In 2007 this figure made 6 637 tons, i.e. in 2008 uranium output increased 28.5%. The total volume of the produced uranium in Kazakhstan includes shares of ?Kazatomprom? NC JSC, joint ventures of the national atomic company and ?Kazatomprom?-run Stepnogorsk Mining-Chemical plant. The company plans to produce about 11 900 tons of uranium in 2009, but this figure will depend on the world markets conjuncture
