Kazakhstan Prosecutor General meets with Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Today, within the forum of chief border prosecutors of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation planned to be held on August 7-8, the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Askhat Daulbayev has met with the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Ponomarev.

The parties emphasized the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the legal sphere. It was highly stressed that in the light of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union signed in Astana, it is necessary to strengthen cooperation in combating transnational crime.

A.Daulbayev proposed to the Russian Prosecutor General's Office to discuss the possibility of signing the necessary documents in the legal sector in the framework of cooperation in the Eurasian Economic Union.

In this context, the main topic of conversation was the expansion of cooperation and facilitation of interaction in the field of international law, as well as consolidation and joint solutions in the fight against illegal migration, drug trafficking, combating religious extremism and terrorism, cybercrime, legalization of proceeds of crime and crimes in the sphere of natural resources protection.

Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan emphasized that the existence of common borders requires close cooperation between the border prosecution services in the fight against crime, and is a priority in prosecution service of the two countries.

A.Daulbayev also informed his Russian counterpart on the measures taken to reform the criminal law and criminal procedure law, the introduction of new forms of legal proceedings, the optimization of the investigation of criminal cases.

Y.Ponomarev expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and thanked for the opportunity to jointly discuss and share best practices in the prosecution activities of the two countries.
