Kazakhstan ranked 24th in the UN global e-government ranking
Kazakhstan is strengthening its position on the global stage in the field of digital governance. According to the UN E-Government Survey 2024, the country has climbed to 24th place in the global e-government development ranking, moving up four positions since the previous report. This was reported by Kazinform News Agency, citing the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan.
According to the ministry, this marks one of Kazakhstan’s strongest performances in its history of participating in the UN rankings.
In the ranking, UN experts evaluate the development of e-services, human capital, and telecommunications infrastructure.
“This is an important indicator reflecting our achievements in digitalization and effective state governance. The UN survey is compiled every two years and considers key aspects such as the development of e-services, human capital, and telecommunications infrastructure, evaluating 193 countries. This achievement is the result of collective efforts, and we continue to work to make our services accessible, secure, and innovative for every Kazakhstan citizen,” stated Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiev.
The survey also highlighted key indicators:
Kazakhstan in the group with a very high EGDI. Kazakhstan ranked 24th, right after Israel, and is among the countries with a very high E-Government Development Index (EGDI). In this year’s ranking, the countries following Kazakhstan are Uruguay (25th), Switzerland (26th), Türkiye (27th), France (34th), China (35th), and Canada (47th). The report also noted that Kazakhstan has made significant progress in digital transformation by actively investing in digital infrastructure and implementing advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT). These initiatives have radically changed governance and the provision of public services, making them more accessible and transparent.
The national strategy for ICT development and digital literacy, along with efforts to improve the quality of public services, contributes to the country’s continued growth in global rankings and strengthens its position as one of the leaders in digital transformation worldwide.
