Kazakhstan ranked 66th in UN Human Development Report

ASTANA. November 5. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ Kazakhstan takes 66th place among 169 countries according to the level of human development. The UN Development Program has presented the Human Development report for 2010 in Astana today.

"The Human Development Index of Kazakhstan in 2010 is 0.714. The country is in the category of countries with high level of human development and takes 66th place among 169 countries", Ekaterina Paniklova, the Assistant Resident Representative, Head of Governance and Local Development Unit said.

According to Executive Secretary of the Kazakh Statistics Agency, UNDP National human development expert Yuri Shokamananov, Kazakhstan moved up 16 places compared to the last year report.

According to the report, among the CIS states Kazakhstan takes the third place following Belarus (61st place) and Russia (65th place). Kazakhstan is described in the report as a region with high level of social justice.
