Kazakhstan ranks 17th place in atmosphere emissions - Environmental Protection Minister

ALMATY. September 9. KAZINFORM - Experts estimate that each year as a result of inefficient use of resources, the country's economy revenue loss accounts to USD 8.4 billion, this has been reported today by the Minister of Environmental Protection Nurlan Kapparov.

According to his words due to industrial activities, Kazakhstan has high level of air pollution. "In terms of emissions Kazakhstan ranks 17th in the world. Major air pollutants include particulate matter, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides as well as compounds of mercury, ozone, lead, carbon dioxide and dioxins. The largest volume of emissions of dust, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide is assigned to the three main sectors of Kazakhstan: power generation, mining and transportation", said the Minister.
