Kazakhstan ranks among 20 countries to perform high-tech heart operations
ASTANA. December 21. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan has joined the 20 countries performing high-tech heart operations for implantations of HeartWare Ventricular Assist System, the press ervice of the National Medical Holding JSC said.
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, the UK, Israel, Japan and other countries perform such operations along with Kazakhstan.
As earlier reported, on December 13 at the Kazakh Cardiac Surgery Centre implanted was the HeartWare Ventricle Assist Device (VAD). Its may be implanted for heart transplant candidates as a bridge to transplantation of the donor heart.
Thanks to this device the patient's heart is capable of pumping up to 5 liters of blood per minute that conforms to norm.
