Kazakhstan ready for strengthening economic cooperation
Addressing the opening of the 6th CIIE in Shanghai, Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov said Kazakhstan jointly with partner states is ready to develop and implement practical mechanisms to strengthen economic cooperation, Kazinform Agency reports.
He also focused on creating conditions for the development of trade and transborder e-trade noting for the past 10 years the commodity turnover between China and Road and Belt initiative member states reached 19.5 trillion US dollars.
The Kazakh PM highlighted the growth of trade between Central and China. Last year the sales hit 70 billion US dollars, 45% of which falls on Kazakhstan. Touching upon the food security issues he noted its importance not only for our region but also across the world. The Prime Minister stressed Kazakhstan ranks among top 10 world’s largest wheat and flour producers.
Smailov said Kazakhstan is ready to strengthen regional food security and adopt food development programs. He also stressed the need to boost transport and logistics cooperation.
The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan said Kazakhstan plays strategic role as a regional transport and logistics hub which bridges Eurasian continent with the Asia Pacific Region. As of today 85% of all land transit traffic from China to Europe accounts for Kazakhstan.
As earlier reported, the sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) takes place in Shanghai from November 5 to 10.
