Kazakhstan reports growth in petrochemicals production

In 10 months of 2024, Kazakhstan’s petrochemical industry achieved a 460,700-ton increase against 269,000 in 2023. Growth is observed in the entire range of products, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Energy.

In particular, methyl-tret-butyl-ether (MTBE) production increased by 37,300 tons (114.6% against 33,100 tons in 2023). Polypropylene production surged by 241,000 tons (156% against 154,100 tons in 2023). Benzol production increased by 26,600 tons (133% against 20,000 tons in 2023), and paraxylene production rose by 109,400 tons (six times more against 17,800 tons in 2023).

Lubricants production augmented by 46,200 tons (105.2% against 43,900 tons in 2023).

The products are exported mainly to the EU, CIS, Chinese, Turkish and Russian markets.

Another two projects of butadiene and polyethylene production with an annual capacity of 305,000 tons and 1,250,000 tons respectively are under implementation as well. The projects are set to be commissioned by 2030.
