Kazakhstan, Romania agreed to develop TITR

Kazakh transport minister Marat Karabayev met with Romanian transport and infrastructure minister Sorin Grindeanu in Bucharest, Romania, discussing bilateral cooperation in transport and logistics, in particular the projects within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, Kazinform News Agency reports. 

During the meeting, the Kazakh minister stressed the growing role of TITR as well as the role Romania plays in unlocking the potential of the Middle Corridor thanks to its location.

We’re ready to further enhance cooperation to mutually increase the transit cargo flow and exchange advanced experiences in the field of multimodal transport and logistics processes. Taking int account that Kazakhstan and Romania are the participants of the international treaty on development of TITR, we’re also keen on to develop cooperation in transportation via this corridor, said Karabayev.

The Kazakh minister also spoke about the measures Kazakhstan took to promote the road infrastructure and increase the speed and quality of transit railway and road transportation from Asia to Europe. In addition, he invited Romanian airlines to carry out flights to Kazakhstan within the open sky regime.

Afterwards, Marat Karabayev and Sorin Grindeanu signed a memorandum of mutual understanding between the Kazakh transport ministry and the Romanian transport and infrastructure ministry.

In addition, the Kazakh transport ministry and the Romanian Civil Aviation Security Investigation and Analysis Authority signed a memorandum of mutual understanding in the field of investigation of aviation accidents and incidents. The document aims at developing and expanding cooperation and creating opportunities to increase the qualification of Kazakhstani specialists on European standards to increase flight safety.

In conclusion, the Kazakh side invited the Romanian public and private sectors to join the upcoming international transport and logistics forum New Silk Way this June.
