Kazakhstan's chairmanship in OSCE to be a co-management of CIS states - K. Tokayev

COW. October 28. KAZINFORM. /Narymbek Ismagulov/ Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE will be a collective management of the CIS states. Chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said it reading a lecture at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry on October 27 in Moscow.

The Speaker noted that "Kazakhstan is the first among the CIS states, Central Asian region and Turkic-speaking countries to head this international structure".

"We intend to pursue a consolidated line to demonstrate our activities in the sphere of interethnic and interreligious relations", he said. Mr. Tokayev expressed confidence that Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE would enrich the organization.

During the lecture he also touched upon the role of Kazakhstan on the world arena and prospects of Kazakh-Russian cooperation. He told about the international initiatives advanced by the state, role of regional and international organizations in promotion of cooperation between countries, formation of a basis for the future energy collaboration and interaction in security provision. He paid special attention to the state's position in regard to mass destruction weapon nonproliferation.

Speaking about the religious unions K. Tokayev noted that President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev is as before confident in the necessity to promote integration processes on the post-soviet space. The Speaker pointed out dynamic cooperation development within the Eurasian Economic Community, particularly regarding the establishment of the Customs Union between Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan.
