Kazakhstan's Green Bridge initiative discussed in Berlin
The main aim of his working trip was the promotion of Kazakhstan's Global Energy-Ecological Strategy and "Green Bridge" Programme which is planned to be on the agenda of the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro on 5-6 June.
During his working trip N. Kapparov met with Bundestag deputy, Parliamentary State Secretary of Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conversation and Nuclear Safety Katherine Reiche, President of the Federal Environment Agency Johanna Flasbarth, Head of the German Emissions Trading Authority (DEHSt) Hans Jurgen Nantke, directors of projects on development of ecological technologies for RWE Technology and Siemens companies.
K. Reiche praised Kazakhstan's initiative in the field of ecology, stressing that the Astana "Green Bridge" Partnership Program becomes a kind of "roadmap" for achieving the goals of global partnership and technology transfer at the regional level. She expressed the willingness of the German side to support the initiative of Kazakhstan and take part in its implementation.
As is known, the idea of partnership "Green Bridge" was supported by the countries of Asia and the Pacific Ocean during the second Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development in Astana in 2010. The purpose of partnership "Green Bridge" for 2011-2020 is the creation of practical inter-regional mechanism to support "green" businesses and the creation of conditions for the introduction of "green" technologies and investments.
The head of the Kazakh Ministry of Environmental Protection informed the German side on the measures taken in Kazakhstan in the context of its application to host the 2017 international specialized exhibition EXPO-2017 with the main theme "Future Energy" demonstrating advanced products and technologies in the field of alternative energy and renewable energy sources.
