Kazakhstan's life expectancy increased by 0,69 years in 2013

ASTANA. KAZINFORM "Over the past year life expectancy in Kazakhstan increased by 0.69 years to reach 70.3 years," Health Minister Salidat Kairbekova stated at today's Government Hour held at the Majilis.

"It is the first time when during a year life expectancy increased by 0.69 years to make 70.3 years in 2013, while in 2012 it was 69.61 years, in 2011 - 69.01 years," she said. The men's life expectancy was 65.6 years (2012 - 64.8) and women's life expectancy was 74.8 years (2012 - 74.3). The gap in life expectancy between women and men in Kazakhstan decreased from 11.63 years in 2007 to 9.2 years in 2013. The maternal death rate dropped last year by 6.7%, infant death by 17%. For the past five years maternal mortality declined threefold, infant death reduced one-half.
