Kazakhstan's ombudsman meets with Sri Lanka minister

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Today, Kazakhstani ombudsman Mr. Askar Shakirov has met with Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva from Sri Lanka who is on an official visit to Kazakhstan, Kazinform was told by the Kazakh Human Rights Commissioner office in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on a wide spectrum of issues, especially humanitarian cooperation within the framework of the United Nations Human Rights Council. Kazakhstan became the full-fledged member of the Council in 2013.

Kazakhstan's human rights ombudsman briefed the guest on the work done by his office in the country. Mr. de Silva, in turn, spoke about the situation in Sri Lanka in the context of the resolution adopted by the Council in 2013 in regard to his country.

Both sides reiterated their readiness to continue constructive dialogue in the humanitarian sphere.
