Kazakhstan's OSCE and OIC chairmanship to contribute to development of dialogue between Islamic countries and West - Senate Speaker

ASTANA.  December 2. KAZINFORM Chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the OSCE and OIC will let our country make a huge contribution to the dialogue between the Islamic countries and the West. Chairman of the Senate Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev has said it welcoming the participants of the IX session of the Secretariat of the congress of Religious Leaders.

The Senate Speaker expressed gratitude to the delegates of the meeting for their permanent and active participation in the activity of the Congress, the press service of the Upper House informs.

According to Tokayev the world has to promote religious tolerance, develop constructive interaction and mutual trust in order to establish peace and open inter-religious dialogue.

Touching upon the current forum Tokayev said it would allow sum up the results of the III Congress and develop an appropriate action plan through the end of 2012.

In his opinion, the inter-religious forum initiated by the Kazakh President in 2003 plays an important role in promotion of inter-faith harmony in the world and achievement of harmony among civilizations. This fact was recognized by the international community, he stressed.

"The oncoming chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the OSCE and OIC will allow our country make a huge contribution to the development of inter-faith, inter-civilization and inter-cultural dialogue between the Western countries and Islamic world", K. Tokayev noted.

As for the summit of the OSCE Leaders scheduled for 2010 in Astana, the Senate Speaker said the agenda of the meeting would include development of an Action Plan on ensuring inter-ethnic and inter-confessional accord.

In the course of the session the delegates had a constructive exchange of views on the results of the III congress of the World and Traditional Religions Leaders and discussed the issues regarding the Secretariat's activity.
