ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan's population grew by 1.5% or 251 thousand people in 2014, this has been reported today by the chairman of the Committee on Statistics under the Ministry of National Economy Alikhan Smailov at a briefing in Central Communications Service.

"As of December 1, 2014 the population of Kazakhstan amounted to 17,397 thousand people including 55.3% of urban population and 44.7% of rural population. The population increased by 251 thousand people or 1.5% in comparison with the same period of the previous year," said A. Smailov. According to his words, the number of births increased by 1.6% and amounted to 368 thousand children. The number of deaths decreased by 4.7% and amounted to 120 thousand people. The number of deaths of children under 1 year reduce by 11% and amounted to 3 617 people.
