Kazakhstan's TV channel to be closed to finance a new film

ASTANA. KAZINFORM "Kazakhstan's Yel Arna programming will be no longer available soon as the channel will be closed as unprofitable. 24.kz TV Channel and a new film will be financed through the budget instead of Yel Arna," Economy and Budget Planning Minister Yerbolat Dossayev told today at the Majilis.

"Annually we allot KZT 2 bln for the channel, but it raises just KZT 300 mln in ratings. Secondly, the Head of State charged last October the Government to close channels with unpopular contents. And Yel Arna content, as you know, is partially translated and bought from foreign channels. According to him, KZT 1 mln out of the said KZT 2 bln will be directed to 24.kz channel to have its correspondent bureau widened and KZT 992 mln for shooting a new film.
