Kazakhstan sandwiched between Russia, Japan in London-2012 standings

ASTANA. July 31. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan is ranked the eighth in medal standings and sandwiched between Russia and Japan at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, according to www.london2012.com.

Kazakhstan won two gold medals, whereas Russia won 5 medals (2 gold and 3 bronze). Japan has 11 medals and only one of them is gold. Japan takes the ninth spot in the medal standings.

China preserves its leading position with nine gold, five bronze and three silver medals. The United States is ranked second with five gold, seven silver and five bronze medals. Then, comes France with three gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

As was reported earlier, Alexander Vinokurov and Zulfiya Chinshanlo won gold for Kazakhstan.
