Kazakhstan-SCO multifaceted cooperation discussed in Beijing
Kazakhstan reaffirms it steadfast and active position on support of multifaceted cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev said it at a meeting with the SCO Secretary General, Nurlan Yermekbayev, in Beijing on January 21.
The sides discussed the current activity of the SCO and preparation for the events scheduled at the highest and high level in 2025.
Bakayev pointed out the importance of progressive implementation of the agreements reached following the SCO Astana Summit on July 4, 2024.
The parties emphasized the importance of conscious efforts on improvement of the SCO’s activity for further transformation of the Organization into an effective and mobile multilateral structure.
In turn, Secretary General of the SCO pointed out Kazakhstan's role in the Organization, speaking on priority areas of the work for the upcoming period.
The sides also exchanged views on further development of interaction in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres, as well as in security sphere.
On January 4, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received SCO Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev who reported about the Organization's current activities and the priority areas of cooperation.
