Kazakhstan secures 3 gold and 4 bronze medals at World Military Wrestling Championship
Kazakhstan won three gold and four bronze medals at the 37th World Military Wrestling Championship held in Armenia, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The World Military Wrestling Championship held under the aegis of the Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) drew the participation of 400 athletes from 21 countries, including Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, France, Hungary, India, Iran, Italy, Jordan, Switzerland, Turkiye, and the U.S.
Seven out of 17 wrestlers representing Kazakhstan took home medals. Meirzhan Ashirov bagged gold in the men’s 70 kg finals, while Kamil Kurugliyev pocketed gold in the men’s freestyle 97kg final bout. Alimkhan Syzdykov won gold in the men’s Greco-Roman 130 kg weight category.
Notably, Kazakhstan ranks fifth in overall standings at the 37th World Military Wrestling Championship.
