Kazakhstan sees a record of over 500,000 tourists in 2 weeks of September
Kazakhstan welcomed a record of 597,000 foreign tourists, attributing this to the large-scale events the country held in two weeks of September, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from Kazakh Tourism National Company.
597,000 foreign tourists visited Kazakhstan on September 1 to 13, of whom 68,000 arrived via international airports of Astana and Almaty, while the rest used rail and road transport.
The main reason behind the increased number of tourists were the 5th World Nomad Games and the concert of famous Kazakhstani singer Dimash Qudaibergen, attracting foreign guests from 89 countries.
Among major countries, whose residents visited Kazakhstan, were China, India, Türkiye, Germany and the US alongside the neighboring countries. For example, over 33,000 tourists came from China, up to 6,000 from India, over 4,000 from Germany, and around 2,000 from the US. This data shows growing interest in Kazakhstan as a tourist destination, said Kazakh Tourism and Sport Vice Minister Yerzhan Yerkinbayev.
He went on to add that a significant number of tourists arrived from Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan, the US and South Korea.
The eQonaq system recorded around 12,400 foreign tourists visiting Astana in a week, whose spendings on accommodation, transport, food and entertainment totaled at 15.5 million US dollars (7.5 billion tenge). Their average check stood at 1,500 US dollars. In addition, the 5th World Nomad Games delivered benefits of around 625,000 US dollars.
The popular tourist sites of the capital Astana also saw increase in tourists, as the Kazakh National Museum welcomed over 14,000 visitors, Astana-Baiterek Monument – around 15,000 and Nur-Alem Pavilion – around 10,000 from September 7 to 13.
According to the Steering Committee of the 5th World Nomad Games, up to 250,000 people visited the Ethno Aul and the Games.
