He noted it is the priority task that requires decisive measures to turn the large airports of Kazakhstan into international competitive hubs.

The President said it is crucial to create an integrated ecosystem including freight and passenger terminals, logistics centers and modern services. It is also essential to ensure aviation fuel price affordability and ease customs clearance procedures that are of great significance for air conveyance cost reduction.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized high prices for aviation fuel, especially at the Astana airport, as one of the problems to be addressed. He assigned the antimonopoly agency and Government to take measures in the first half of the year to improve the situation.

He underlined currently the air freight transport market is estimated at 140 billion US dollars. It provides huge opportunities though not a Kazakhstani company is fully engaged in this process.

As earlier reported, the expanded meeting of the Kazakh Government under the chairmanship of the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, kicked off in Astana.
