Kazakhstan starts producing copper and nickel from the Soviet time deposits
This has been announced by Mayor of Aktobe region Arkhimed Mukhambetov briefing at the central communications service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in "Kazmediacenter".
"I would like to tell more about the project of "KazCopper" Ltd. This is unique technology, a method of solvent extraction and electrowinning. Here the most important thing is that it allows to draw copper deposit, where the metal content of the ore is at the least, less than 1 percent. In the Soviet times these deposits were put in a dead storage, and these days thanks to the technology I have mentioned, they were 'livened up'. We have quite a few of these fields, and in the near future we are planning to open a number of high-tech industries", said A.Muhambetov.
According to him, a similar approach is used concerning nickel, where prospects are connected with "Kazzinc" company's plans for the construction of a nickel plant on the basis of available deposit of nickel-cobalt ores.
