Kazakhstan, Tajikistan to boost trade turnover

On July 19, Dushanbe hosted the 18th meeting of the Kazakhstan-Tajikistan Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation chaired by the two countries’ first deputy prime ministers – Roman Sklyar and Hokim Holikzoda, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The meeting centered on economic situation in both countries, the current state and prospects for the development of Kazakhstan-Tajikistan trade-economic development, the issues of interaction in energy, industry, transport, agriculture, education and science, digitalization and tourism. Special attention was given to certain measures of enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation, establishment of joint enterprises and development of a comprehensive mechanism of water-energy cooperation to ensure water, energy and food security in Central Asia.

The sides agreed to explore the issue of signing a 2025-2027 road map to boost trade turnover during the upcoming visit of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Tajikistan.

Taking the floor, Roman Sklyar noted rapid development of interaction between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan in the spirit of partnership and good-neighborly relations, with enormous prospects for the development of the bilateral economic cooperation. This was proved at the last year’s Kazakh-Tajik Business Forum which ended with signing 39 commercial contracts.

Roman Sklyar expressed confidence that the decisions taken will give an additional impulse to the development of bilateral relations in all areas of the Kazakh-Tajik cooperation and will strengthen the ties between the countries. The meeting ended with signing a protocol of implementation of the agreements concluded.
