Kazakhstan teams up with Sagem Defense to build UAVs

ASTANA. November 9. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan Engineering and Sagem Defense Security have signed a deal to set up a joint venture to manufacture tactical unmanned aerial vehicles, the Kazakh company said on Tuesday. Kazinform refers to Xinhau.

The enterprise, to be based in Kazakhstan, will manufacture and market UAVs and provide technical support.

The chief market segments will be Kazakh state and government agencies and commercial companies that will use UAVs to ensure national defense and security, protect borders, and accomplish a range of civilian functions.

"Apart from defense, security and law enforcement agencies, potential UAV buyers may include agricultural companies, emergency and rescue services, and oil and gas producing companies," Kazakhstan Engineering said.

Sagem Defense Security is an international company involved in defense electronics, consumer electronics and communication systems. It operates in more than 30 countries with a turnover of over $10 billion euros. Kazinform cites Xinhua. See www.xinhuanet.com
