Kazakhstan Temir Zholy likely to start construction of terminal in China's Lianyungang this spring
It is planned to build a terminal at the Lianyungang Port this spring within the framework of the Sino-Kazakh joint venture. It will let Kazakhstan expand export of its agricultural products to the Asia-Pacific Region. As earlier reported, in 1995 Kazakhstan and China signed the agreement on use of the China's port of Lianyungang for cargo traffic. China's new leadership pays attention to the evolution of the port of Lianyungang and expansion of container traffic via the transcontinental bridge. Lianyungang Port, located in Jiangsu Province (East China), has a favorable geographical position. It is connected via rail services with other major Chinese ports, Qingdao, Tyantszyan, Shanghai, and has the sea line with the Korean port of Busan and the Japanese port of Osaka.
