Kazakhstan thanks Vatican for support of Astana Interreligious Congress

J.L. Tauran is in Astana as a special guest of the XII session of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and the international scientific and practical conference dated to the 10th anniversary of the Congress.
During the meeting, the high dignitary from Vatican conveyed the best wishes from the Pope Francis to the President of Kazakhstan.
Jean-Louis Tauran stressed that current situation in the world confirms the need to establish a dialogue between various confessions. In his words, Kazakhstan introduced the model of interreligious dialogue that should be supported in every possible way.
The Kazakh Senate Speaker, in turn, thanked the administration of Vatican city for all-round support of the Astana Congress and active participation of the Holy See in the activity of the congress.
"Vatican is an important political partner of Kazakhstan. Vatican and Kazakhstan signed the agreement on interaction. The document is of paramount importance since Kazakhstan has become the first CIS and Asian country to ink such document with the Holy See," Mr. Mami stressed.
