Zhambyl region launches new export-oriented productions with the participation of foreign capital, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Plants in Talas and Shu districts in Zhambyl region are set to produce annually up to 55,000 tons of highly sought sodium cyanide. Expensive sodium cyanide products are widely used mainly in the gold mining industry.

The only and fourth in the post-soviet space sodium cyanide plant with a capacity of 15,000 tons was commissioned in Karatau, the town of miners, in 2014. 550 permanent jobs were generated at the plant. The project's second stage plans to build the second complex and increase production capacities up to 30,000 tons of cyanide a year. Notably, 250 new workplaces will be created.

The increased sodium cyanide production is expected to lower the plant’s manufacturing costs and supply the country’s market with homegrown products as well as to expand export potential up to 10,000 tons a year.

According to the entrepreneurship and construction department, the fourth quarter of 2023 will launch the second sodium cyanide plant in the free economic zone in Shu district. The project is developed by Altynalmas Reagents. It is expected to produce 25,000 tons of the highest quality sodium cyanide with 98% purity. The plant will create 100 permanent jobs.
