Kazakhstan to build new resort town in Mangistau region
A new resort town will be built in the Kenderli resort area in Mangistau region to welcome up to 300,000 tourists a year, Kazinform News Agency cites the Government’s press service.
This year nearly 215,000 travelers arrived in the region, a 9.5% increase compared to the same period of 2023, the regional akimat said. The volume of tourism-related services reached 6.5 billion tenge. For the past two years, four large investment projects were developed in the region to build hotels and recreation facilities. 12 more will be launched in 2025-2027 to generate over 500 jobs in the tourism sector.
One of the landmarks of the region is the Kenderli resort area which boasts a long bathing season. Besides, its geographic positioning plays an important role in attracting tourists.
In line with the President’s task a special tourist town with a corresponding infrastructure will be built there, akim (head) of Kenderli village Meken Uissenov said.
Earlier as part of his working trip to Mangistau region Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov surveyed the region’s transportation and logistics, and tourism potential. He said the region has untapped potential for further growth, such as the sea, picturesque landscapes, and historical and sacred monuments. To make a breakthrough the region has to develop its infrastructure, attract investments and build new facilities.
