Kazakhstan to cheer on figure skater Denis Ten and many more at Sochi Olympics today

SOCHI. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstani skiing ladies Yelena Kolomina, Tatyana Ossipova and Anastasia Slonova will be the first to fight for medals at the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi today. The Women's 10km Classic featuring 76 (!) female athletes will start at the Laura Cross-country-Ski & Biathlon Center at 16:00 p.m. Astana time.

Abzal Azhgaliyev, Aydar Bekzhanov, Aslan Daumov, Nurbergen Zhumagaliyev and Denis Nikisha will compete as a team in Men's 5000 Relay in short track semifinals at the Iceberg Skating Palace at 17:31 p.m.

89 biathletes, including Sergey Naumik, Anton Pantov, Yan Savitskiy and Alexandr Trifonov from Kazakhstan, are expected to partake in the Men's Individual 20km race at the Laura Cross-country-Ski & Biathlon Center at 20:00 p.m.

Kazakhstani speed skater Yekaterina Aydova is paired with Marrit Leenstra from the Netherlands in the Women's 1000m race that is set to take place at the Adler Arena Skating Center at 20:00 p.m. as well.

Last but definitely not least are figure skaters from Kazakhstan Denis Ten and Abzal Rakimgaliyev who will demonstrate their short programs among the likes of Evgeny Plyushchenko of Russia and Patrick Chan of Canada at the Iceberg Skating Palace at 21:00 p.m.
