Kazakhstan to commission no less than 3 GW of new capacities over next two years
Kazakhstan will have to commission no less than 3 GW of new capacities over the next two years that is 2.5 times more compared to the previous years, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The Government faces a task to ensure full electrical energy self-sufficiency and generate reserves at 15-20%. That’s why it should commission no less than 3 GW of new capacities over the next two years. The country’s carbon neutrality transition path remains unaltered. It is necessary to effectively use the country’s mineral wealth and natural advantages, the President said addressing the expanded meeting of the Government in Astana.
He said innovative coal power plants should replace thermal power plants based on long-outdated technologies.
As written before, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov announced at today's meeting the necessary agreements on the construction of the country’s first nuclear power plant in Almaty region will be concluded soon.
