Kazakhstan to conclude agreements on NPP construction soon

Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov announced the necessary agreements on the construction of the country’s first nuclear power plant in Almaty region will be concluded soon, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Addressing the Government's expanded sitting, he added development of the projects on the construction of three thermal power plants began in the cities of Kokshetau, Semey and Ust Kamenogorsk with phased commissioning by 2032. 166 MW of steam and hydropower generation will be put into service and 450MW more at 10 renewable power source sites this year.

The Prime Minister said the construction of the plant for the production of wind turbine main components started.

He stressed the analysis for the selection of potential locations for the construction of the second NPP is to be completed soon.

As written before, Kazakhstan will choose a potential vendor for its nuclear plant construction project by June 2025.
