Kazakhstan to conduct inventory of rural settlements

ASTANA. September 4. KAZINFORM In order to classify rural settlements in the country it is planned to conduct a comprehensive inventory of industrial, social and engineering infrastructure in the countryside, Deputy Minister of Regional Development of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin has said today at a meeting of the Government, Primeminister.kz reported.

As a result of the classification there will be determined four groups of rural settlements for the development of appropriate measures for their development.

"They are district centers, main rural communities, central manor rural districts, the other rural settlements. District centers and main rural settlements are suggested to be developed as centers of economic growth serving a bridge for economic, social, cultural and demographic ties with the city," he said.

It is planned to develop individual complex plans for the development of rural settlements, which will include measures for expansion and modernization of existing facilities, development of small and medium enterprises, social and engineering infrastructure, housing construction, development of government, financial and other services.

There are 6936 rural settlements in Kazakhstan. 7.6 million people live in the countryside.
