Kazakhstan to draft law on university autonomy
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - A law on university autonomy will be drafted in Kazakhstan in the near future, President of the Gumilyov Eurasian National University Mr. Yerlan Sydykov announced.
"Hopefully, the Ministry of Education and Science will draft the new law by September 1, 2014," Mr. Sydykov said at a press briefing of the Central Communications Service under the President of Kazakhstan on Wednesday.
The President of the Gumilyov Eurasian National University explained the new law will enable universities exercise independent control over their day to day operations and curriculum.
"Supervising boards will decide on the future development strategy of universities, elect top-management, invite foreign specialists and deal with financial issues in line with the law," he added.
