Kazakhstan to export 60, 000 tons beef to Russia by 2015 - Shukeyev

URALSK. March 1. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ "Kazakhstan plans to export 60 thousand tons of beef to Russia in the nearest five years," First Vice Prime Minister Umirzak Shukeyev has informed today.

"We have elaborated a special program on development of cattle breeding and we plan to export up to 60 thousand tons of beef to the Russian Federation," he said at a joint sitting of the boards of Kazakh and Russian agriculture ministries held in Uralsk today.

"Actually, it is not such a big volume of meat taking into consideration that Russia imports more than 1.5 mln tons of meat from Latin America," he explained. "In the 90s of the XX century Kazakhstan delivered 180 thousand tons of meat to Russia," U. Shukeyev added.

As is known, Kazakh, Russian governmental delegations led by U. Shukeyev and I. Shuvalov have visited today a feeding yard of Crown Batys LLP for 8, 640 cattle head in the West Kazakhstan region.

"This is the first enterprise out of 54 ones located along the RF border which will specialize in delivery of beef to Russia," Shukeyev noted.
