Kazakhstan to export meat to Russia: head of SPC ?Tobol?
ASTANA. January 21. KAZINFORM /Bauyrzhan Mukanov/ ?Border areas of Russia seem to be the most attractive market for export of Kazakhstani beef?, Chairperson of ?Tobol? Social Entrepreneurial Corporation Marat Tolibayev has said today at the session of ?Samruk Kazyna? National Welfare Fund, Kazinform reports.
According to him, the beef takes 22% of the world meat market, about 285 mln tons of meat is produced in the world annually; average annual igrowth is up to 1-2%. The most attractive consumer for Kazakhstan is Russia, where in recent years production of beef and mutton is decreasing and consumption, in contrast, is growing.
?Our analysis shows that the cost of Russian meat in the border areas is 25% higher then the cost of the Kazakh meat. Russia needs 300 thousand tons of imported beef annually. In this regard we have potential market for sales?, M.Tolibayev said.
Russian meat consumption per capita is almost equal to Kazakh ? 18 kg. Beef production in Kazakhstan is up to 46%, pork ? 24%, mutton ? 14%.
