Kazakhstan to farm red-listed fish in Aral Sea

KYZYLORDA. KAZINFORM Kamystybas fish hatchery starts realizing a set of projects aimed at preserving valuable fish species. It will raise red-listed fish in the Aral Sea, our correspondent reports.

There are 34 ponds in the nearshore villages. Annually the hatchery raises a million of juvenile fish, also harvests caviar of grass carp and silver carp. Next year it will launch the Caspian barbel raising program with the support of the Government. It also monitors sturgeon breeding process. Annually it releases about 15 mln of juvenile fish to the Aral Sea to grow.
