Kazakhstan to host first historic summit of Turkic Council Oct 2011

ASTANA. December 13. KAZINFORM /Askar Bimendin/ The first historic summit of the Turkic Council will take place in October 2011 in Kazakhstan. Official Spokesperson of the Kazakh Foreign Office Askar Abdrakhmanov informed of it at a briefing today.

"A delegation of the Secretariat of the Turkic-Speaking Countries Cooperation Council headed by Secretary General Khalil Akyndzhi is expected to visit Astana on December 13-15", he said.

In accordance with a program of the trip Khalil Akyndzhi will meet with the head of the Kazakh MFA, several state and public organizations and will visit the Academy of Turkic World.

According to A. Abdrakhmanov, the Agreement on establishment of the Cooperation Council of the Turkic-Speaking Countries was signed on the initiative of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev within the 9th Summit of the Heads of Turkic-Speaking Countries in Nakhchivan (Azerbaijan) on October 3, 2009.

The first historic summit of the Turkic Council will be held in Kazakhstan in October 2011, A. Abdrakhmanov added.
